Lighting

At approximately 4:00 pm, there will be a sign displayed at the start/finish flagging station saying “LIGHTS ON”. Teams will have 30 minutes to comply with the request and turn on their forward and door/number lighting. During this time, all cars must have at least one operating rear taillight and two forward headlamps. The car must also comply with all other requirements in the rule book for working brake lights and rain lights. Door/number lighting must render the door numbers legible to flaggers with no additional ambient light. Marker lamps or illuminated panels may be used to achieve this.

In addition to the above, you may also have up to four additional light fixtures that may be mounted to the front of the car.

  • These fixtures must be facing forward and are allowed to be angled up to 45 degrees from the centerline of the car to illuminate apexes.
  • No part of these fixtures may be above the bottom plane of the windshield of the car.
  • These fixtures must be securely mounted as to not vibrate or wobble in a way that will distract cars in front of you.
  • These additional fixtures must have their own switch so they may be independently operated.
  • These additional fixtures must be extinguished any time you are between the RFID readers or in the paddock.

Colored LED identifying lights/light strips may be used to differentiate cars but may not provide illumination or otherwise distract.
